Acceleration incompatibility

I received FSX:Acceleration a few days ago. Today I discovered that when I launch an internet sharing session, only people who also have Acceleration can join. Microsoft support says this is "by design". I hope somebody can convince me that I am wrong about this apparent incompatibility, that there's a workaround, or something. If true, Microsoft has made a BIG mistake. This will NOT promote sales of Acceleration.
