Autopilot Learjet malfunctions (2002) Not logged in -   Reply

Hi all,

When flying the Learjet in FS2002 the autopilot is very stubborn, especially
the altitude and vertical speed switch. I can switch them on, put the
aircraft doesn't seem to pay attention to it. For example, when I select
1200 vertical speed, the pitch attitude will be much steeper (4000 VS) until
the aeroplane stalls.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks,

johan

Do you have the AP master switch engaged?

Yes, make sure that you've actually switched the AP ON... You can click all day
on the ALT control and have it light up, but if the master AP switch isn't
showing green, then the AP is OFF... :)

Couple of thoughts here:

1) The "Z" key is really the "master" on/off switch for the AP. Try that
if all else fails.
2) The suggestion to pay attention to trim is right on. Often you may
shoot an approach
at an airspeed that is too low and the AP will max out the trim trying to
keep the altitude.
You land OK, but the trim is maxed out full up when you switch the AP off.
Make sure
you have zeroed the trim (and your yoke if you use one) before trying to
engage the AP.
