Alright, who's bright idea was it to put a water tower just outside the
airport between runways 10L and 10R? I am not the best at landing and
my glide paths tend to be rather shallow. I'm landing on 10L and this
water tower goes right past my starboard wing. Now if I was flying a
737 instead of a Lear 45, I think I might have hit the darn thing!

My Bonanza is actually based in Calwell, but I fly in to Boise on
a fairly regular basis. I have never noticed any such water tower.
I think MSFS is once again mis-representing the real world.

Just set FS to ignore crashes, and go for it! d:->))
I forget where it was now, but I found one that had a telephone pole in the
middle of the runway..

I'm so glad to hear that reality does not match the simulation. lol

I could swear that FS likes to put a tree right at the approach end of the
runway too, particularly in airports that are out in the sticks. Although I
do recall a few years ago in RL when flying in a small Cessna on takeoff
that there was a grove of pine trees at the end of the RW and the pilot had
one hand on the wheel and was using the other hand to adjust the air flow
thingy, and meanwhile the stall warning was chirping away merrily. (Perhaps
he was clearing the air because somebody else in the plane was crapping
their pants!)

Perhaps it's MS's way to let us have the same thrill Lindbergh had on
taking off on his historic flight.

Which airport was that and how do you get around that? Turn off crash
detection?

From what I'm seeing, I'm not surprised. Gotta save up for UTX.

Oh yes, seen a couple of those :o/

"Delta 11, please clear the Runway!"
"Not with my propellar I wont!" ;o)

At my home ground EKCH, ther's the Oresund bridge verry close to RW 22, so
when on final for that, you have to stay above 1000ft, untill it's cleared,
and then drop like a stone, to hit the RW, in time to have anny breaking
distance. This is both in FS9.1 and IRL. Taking off from RW 4 is not as bad,
since you can easyly clear the thing, with a climbrate of 1200 or above, or
in a GA, you just turn left, right after takeoff.

Hi Vernon,
KBOI is my home airport. I noticed this water tower too in FSX. It's
pretty annoying, especially because at the distance that it is at in the
sim, the program doesn't display the legs of the tower, so all you really
see is a giant UFO hovering off the end of the runway. In my opinion M$ went
way overboard with the water towers everywhere. Try a flight out of Nampa
Muni, and you will see a bunch more of them.
I installed Flight1's Ultimate Terrain USA X and it got rid of that
water tower. Now the airport looks much closer to what it does in real life.
If you want a great add-on for FSX, then look into Flight 1's Ultimate
Terrain USA X. I am very pleased with it. Take care...

I have FSX with SP1 and the Accelleration Pack. I see no water tower at
KBOI.

Hi Arthur
I have my autogen scenery set to massive. I'm not sure what Vernon has
his set to. It is one of those oval "new style" water towers that looks like
a UFO. It seemed to go away after I installed UTX, but maybe it went away
after I installed Acceleration. Anyway, it's gone now. Take care...

I only have the default stuff plus Acceleration. It's there, with autogen
at very dense.
