Crashes to DTop when Select a Flight is selected Not logged in -   Reply

I've had MS 2004 for quite a while... I played with it for several weeks after purchase... no problems. Now, several months later I'm trying to use it again. I just loaded Wings of Power and started it up. It starts OK but when I used "Select A Flight" the program crashes to Desk Top. I did this several times with the same result... each time selecting a different flight. I tried using "Create a Flight" and it worked OK, I tried using the historical flights and they worked OK as well. I tried a different add on "Carrier Landings" and it worked at least once. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling... it still doesn't work in Select a Flight. Please Help Smile

It seems you have a corrupted fs9.cfg Backit up, delete it, and start flight sim 2004. It will auto generate that file.

Yep.

So, did it work? guess no huh?

If it still doesn't work do this:

Reinstall FS2004 but in ANOTHEr directory and logged on as a different user.

I'm having the same problem, did re-installing it in a different directory fix the problem?

After some extensive fiddling around I discovered one thing. If you go into task manager and then processes and close "spoolsv.exe" flight simulator works fine, to include running flights from "select a flight". Seems strange, but it works.

So I tried again today and my crash to desktop problem came back, this time with spoolsv.exe not running. Now I found out that it was a program called viewmgr.exe that was causing the problem. We'll see how this one goes!

I don't know what viewmgr is or was... but I removed it and will try Microsoft FS2004 shortly... thanks.

FS9 won't save or Select a Flight
Bypassing FS2004 "Select flight" screen
