FS9 patch problems

I just installed the version 9.1 patch for flight sim 04, and now whenever i try and load it i get the 'flight sim has encountered a problem and needs to close' thing. It happens at the loading screen, about 20 secs after it first appears (when it would normally be finished and load the create a flight screen.) Just wonderin if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone has any general ideas. thanks.
