FSX Acceleration Activation Error 8-c0000006 Not logged in -   Reply

Just purchased an Australian release today and attempted to install. First
problem there is no activation menu at end of the installation, second when
FSX is executed an activation error message is displayed with code 8-c0000006
. The dvd disc is made from Singapore PO6000096254 line 15 Team: MMSIN XPACK
WIN32 ENGL.

From Avsim:

1) with regedit, located this entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

2) edit your UpperFilters key. For FSX and their validatin system, they
expect it only reads "PartMgr". In your case, there is great chance it shows
something more. In my case, it was reading:

GoBack2
PartMgr
SiRemFil

3) change the registry to read only "PartMgr"

4) start FSX, you should now be prompted with the activation dialog, proceed
and let FSX start, then exit FSX.

5) edit back the registry key with your previous content

6) exit regedit, and start FSX again, it should all be fine by now!

The registry value was OK it only had the PartMgr entry so this was not the
issue.

I did find a solution, by searching the forums but it was a long and tedious
process.

I basically had to deinstall Acceleration create another account with admin
rights (which is strange because my current account has admin rights), use
the msconfig selective process setting, reboot the system , reinstall
Acceleration, then was I prompted for product key.

But this was not before removing the first installation of Acceleration,
then FSX thinking
there might be problem with the FSX install. The whole process took about 6
hours of headache. The addon for FSX only cost me $44 Aus , Is it really
worth it to go through all this? I think a better activation process needs to
be implemented.

If it's from Singapore there is a good chance it is a pirated version.

Yes, that was going to be my next suggestion. The registry for the "local"
administrator gets munged up somehow and creating a new "local" admin clears
it up. In another post, someone with a similar problem ran the program for
the alloted time and when it timed out of 'demo' mode it popped up the
activation dialog as it would normally.

Anyhow, glad you got it sorted out.

Vic

I cannot thank you enough for this post - I had almost the identical problem
trying to install FSX:Acceleration but compounded the problem when I decided
to delete and re-install FSX itself - and then hit the same problem trying to
re-install FSX - which had been running for 13 months without much in the way
of problems. Did what you suggested, created new Admin user - disconnected
from network, and used phone activation and it succeeded - so at least I have
FSX fully operational again - next up will be the Acceleration re-install -
but this got me back in the air - thanks again!
