FSX Acceleration CRASHES FSX all the Time! Not logged in -   Reply

I installed FSX Acceleration. When I change view and I choose to return back
to the Cockpit, the game freezes and I get an error message "a fatal error
occured". I re-installed the game and the FSX Acc 2 times but still the
problem remains.
Any Ideas?

My PC is new
Core 2 Duo
2048 RAM
Nvidia 7600GS 256NB Video Card

Some have had success by running MSCONFIG and disabling startup items. This
usually corrects the issue. Then start adding back until you find what is
causing the problem. Doesn't work for everyone but it's worth a try.

I have a good spec pc(xp), i run a nvid 7900 gs card,fsx deluxe sp1 etc, all
was well till i added accel package, with this installed i cant use the
normal task bar options in freeflight or online (alt key) everytime i go to
different view/make my screen larger/smaller/change to a different airport
etc, the game freezes, normally a reboot is the only way back, i uninstalled
accel and all works fine, contacting microsoft is harder than suggested
unless your prepared for a hefty telephone bill.. any ideas.

regards
Dave

THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM!

I have it too, same things described in these posts. Somebody needs to call
Microsoft Game Studios and speak to the FSX team. The telephone and contact
information contained in this link will help:

http://www.answers.com/topic/microsoft-game-studios?cat=biz-fin

or call 425-882-8080 - Ask for Microsoft Game Studios - Aces Group.

Mr. Brent Conklin - Test Manager or Mr. Hal Bryan - FSX Evangelist."

MS Technical support just cannot deal with the specific nature of the
complex issue - they should have a dedicated support team or MONITORED
discusssion group able to work these problems.

Hope this helps!

Well since you have all that info, why don't YOU be that somebody and call.

It has pretty much been determined that his is an video driver issue. Try
changing to later drivers and see if this helps. I'm using the 169.13 beta
drivers for XP from NVIDIA and have never seen the problem.

It is a problem but it is not the fault of Acceleration.

I did call these people and others and left several voice-mail messages.

The Latest ForceWare Drivers for XP/MCE are 163.75 fron Nvidia, if you are
using a Nvidia graphics chipset. I don't know where you got those BETA
drivers from ;0)

Other people have to call, as well if we are to get this resolved.

I still think it is a bug.

Thanks.

I get all my drivers from the NVidia website, including the beta's. They're
listed under "beta drivers' - go figure Smile

Well, we seem to disagree here, it is a bug but it's not Acceleration - it's
nvidia's bug.

Since Aces has al;ready stated there will be NO MORE patches, updates, fixes
or whatever name you wish to call it - all the emails and phone calls to
those folks will do absolutely no good. Considering that the majority of
people that I have read posts from are not having this issue it just means
more posting and searching until you find the 'fix' that works for you.

Re: FSX Acceleration CRASHES FSX all the Time! [In reply to "Vic Baron"] Not logged in -   Reply

I am using a Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE and upgraded the video drivers to the
latest WHQL revision for XP - version 169.21 (not beta). Same result in the
FSX. I start in cockpit mode then switch to Spot Mode on my joystick (or
keyboard) then back into cockpit mode where FSX hangs with a Fatal Execution
error. Have to hard boot the PC.

THis all started after FSX Acceleration was installed.

Try giving these contacts at MS a call. I tried my best (previous posts)

Have a GOOD HOLIDAY.

The problem I'm experiencing with Acceleration installed is Freezes when I
access the Options secondary menus i.e. "controls or whatever" while flying.
The video immediatelty freezes , sound carries on - have to hard boot and
restart. Remove accelerator module and AOK...Otherwise haven't had any prior
probllems with FS
Video is ASUS EN7950GT, 512Mb..Will try removing Start-up modules and see if
it has any bearing BUT I really think there's a glitch in this software

You are absolutely right, Vic. That's why I am NEVER GOING TO BUY ANOTHER MS
FLIGHT SIM.
I've been a repeat customer for many, many years and ACES' treatment, or
rather lack of it or even honest acknowledgement, of this widespread issue is
unacceptable to me.

I have XP with the nvidia Geforce GT 7900 and FSX Acceleration installed. The
result was that I also had the freezes and system crashes due to the same
driver bug that others have described in similar posts.
I downloaded the latest beta driver ver 169.28_forceware_xp_32bit_beta.exe
installed it and I do NOT have the problem any longer Smile

Get the newest driver fron nvidia web downloads and install it. If you are
still having problems, I suggest you write nvidia and have them address this
issue.
