FSX Lesson bug? Not logged in -   Reply

Lesson 5; ATC.

Maybe it's a bug, maybe I'm missing a cue......

In this lesson one is introduced to ATC by flying a shuttle flight in the
Cessna from one airport to another.

Problem is, is that after take off the plane goes into auto pilot and never
comes out of it. Left to it's self, the plane over flies the target airport,
eventualy crashing into the Rockies north of the Canadian border!

So.. either the lesson is bugged (as it never comes out of auto pilot) or
I'm missing some response or action I should do in flight to trigger
regaining control of the aircraft and to land at Pain field.

Any one have any clues?

I ran this lesson and found a simliar situation; however, what you said
tipped me off. As I neared Pain I entered control + ] several times and
nothing happened. I tried diengaging the auto pilot, but it wouldn't work,
but I could swittch of the heading and altitude hold to fly manually. I
landed safely at Pain field, but when the plane stopped the message was I
failed the lesson because the plane crashed?????

Exactly!

Normaly I'm more than ready to admit to my own ineptitude, but I take
objection to failing a mission when the instructor is in control! Smile

Does skipping a lesson mater at all? I'm enjoying the idea of a virtual
pilot's school leading to a virtual PPL; it adds a role playing element Smile

Don't know re FSX - but there were various fixes/workarounds I used in
FS2002 2004 - search within this group or Google the groups here -

http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search?hl=en

Play around in there until someone comes in here - cant say I have noticed
one yet - but could have missed it.
