FS 2004, CH Pedals toe brakes cancels "." key!?

When the program opens, the period (.) key applys brakes to
both wheels evenly. After I have used the CH Pedals toe brake
function to apply differential brakes the "." key ceases to function,
as do any buttons assigned to "brakes." Any body got a fix or a
workaround? Trying to apply both toe brakes evenly is difficult.
Upgraded to FS9.1, NOT using CH Control Manager.
