HI Davsy,First thing you have to do after you get the autorisation to land, take in note the runway num. and find out on the map the ILS freq. and very important thing, the course of this runway. Now you must enter the ILS freq. in radio nav.1 and switch the freq.active. set the course in the auto pilot.and press APP. button. I will give you and exemple with an airport .Montreal dorval CYUL. You'r cleared to land runway 06R. The frequence of ILS is 110,50 and the course is 059. Set freq. and course, now to intercept the localiser you must do it with a maximum of 30 degres and the proper altitude in this case is 2000 ft.The important thing to remind you is, if you'r to hight you will not be locked on ILS. Many A.P. required to be set on heading mode when you get prepared for approche. As soon you have intercept the lock you sould see on A.P. display depending on type of aircraft, LOC passing from withe to green letters, anyway the airplane will start to turned alone to get line up with the runway. After GS for glideslope sould be seen on same display to let you know the A.P. will start descent. You must intercept the loc from underneath, this is one of the most frequent mistake done by beginners. I suggest you to make few flight controled by ATC. with IFR clearance.ATC will bring you to the right position and proper altitude to intercept the LOC. Dont forget freq. active, the course set, 30 degres max. and proper alti. Control your speed and the A.P. will do the rest. At 500 ft. above the runway turn off A.P. and make yourself a smooth landing like a pro.Enjoy your flight. j.p.
