If you have WinZip installed, you can simply execute it where it is and
direct it to expand the contents into your FS directory. You should read any
text files carefully, not everybody creates these archives the same way,
most often (if it's an aircraft) you either expand (unzip) it to the main FS
directory. Other times you expand into a temporary folder and highlite the
important stuff and drag them over. I both instances you should tick the
FOLDER NAMES option, but watch out, sometimes someone just happens to use a
reverse kind of logic and you'll be cleaning out a bit of a mess

MMost likely you want to save the ZIP file somewhere - I like to have a
Download directory with Subdirectories for all the different categories that
I use, and I dump everything there directly from the browser.

There are so many ways to move things over from one place to another, I
prefer opening two instances of the Explorer Filemanager (do - [Winkey+E]
twice!) then resize the windows so each fills half the screen hight and
navigate to the source file in one and the destination directory in the
other, then you can simply drag the file over - or you can right-click the
file and use the context-menu.

Thanks Tony,
I do not have WinZip. It is hard for me to justify the $35 dollars a year
for it. Over the years I have only unzipped a couple of D/L And they were
easy.
I am able to extract the info., but can't find the file for FSP [2004]

It doesn't have to be the actual WinZip. There are others, 7Zip and WinRAR
are but a few. And of course Windows explorer does it too, but I find that
one awkward. Not to say horrible! I'm an ooolde winzipper!

Ahh, sorry - FSP???

I don't have Winzip either, but if I right click on the file, I can
extract the contents anyway. This is Windows XP btw, and IIRC this
function is dependent on the exact version and SP, but I'm sure someone
who knows more about MicroSoft can tell you.

Thank you Tom,
I can get that far also. I am running XP home, The wizard asks for the
file that I want to send to. I am trying to send it to FS2004, and can't
locate it.
Years ago Niken tech helped me with a firmware update, over the phone, only
tooks seconds.

Jerry,

where you put it depends on what kind of file or add-on it is. One option is
to extract it to a temporary location. then go inside and have a look at the
TXT files - you'll usually find a README inside a ZIP file.

Or, you can tell us the name of the ZIP file and where you got it from and
I'll be glad to have a look at it.

Re: MOVING ZIP FILES [In reply to jerry friz] Not logged in -   Reply

O.K. - Jerry, this is not the Concord itself but the 'Flightplan' that lays
out it's last flight. It's true, it is not always apparent where to put
these files and the instructions in that ZIP are a bit vague, if you happen
on something of this order again, remember you can always search your local
HD's for a specific sort of file - this being a flightplan, it has the
Filename Extension of [pln], so search for any .PLN file and you will see
where most of them are. (Don't search your CD/DVD's as it takes too long and
you cannot install there anyway). You may have others floating around that
may not be 'Installed', but most of them should be in the correct place.

'The correct place' in this instance happens to be (with FS9 on XP, at
least!) your C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\My Documents\Flight
Simulator Files.

I hate this layout, but there you go!

Go there and have a look around, this is where your FLT and PLN files are.
Extract the file to this location and the next time you open a flightplan
this one will be among all the others that are available.

If you had been hoping to be able to go and fly the actual Concord on that
last flight, the plane itself is available somewhere, probably in some ZIP
file and the installation routine will be completely different, working with
ZIP's at least gives you an overwiev of how the innards are knitted
together. If you have a week-end to burn, and want a complete technical
overview I recommend downloading the FS SDK from the Home Site.

Hi Tony,
Okay, good , now I understand. This is not what I was looking for. I am
looking for the a/c [Consorde] to add to FS2004, and fly it. But now maybe I
can unzip another on the Husky, that Franks hanger has.
Thanks again Tony

Yes, I kind-a-got the feeling you were in for a bit of disappointment there!
I think FSFrance.com has a decent Concorde, but that site is down for the
moment.

O.K. - My french is not good. On the site the word "bientot" appears, in the
back of my mind I interpreted this as "back soon".

Checking now, I find I was only somewhat correct, in that it could also mean
"goodbye" so, there's still an open door perhaps?

Let's hope creativity beats dispair after a well earned break.

Many have judged this the only good free-ware Concord - 'Flight1' (if I
recall) should have one to pay for, though.
