Name32 and joystick Not logged in -   Reply

Recently I bought a brand new computer in the shop. I install Windows Vista
and the old game series (DOS) known as Name32. I asked at the computer store
for a joystick compatible to Name32 (but they told me that probably non USB
joystick can be compatible to Name32. (Generally for DOS games must find an
old joystick)
Any idea ?
Thank you for the answers.

Isn't he asking if the information he had, that no USB Joysticks would be
compatible for a DOS game, is correct?

Personally I would like to know what OS he is using for the game?

Let me explain what I meant (Sorry but my English aren’t so well.)
Name32 is something like a package, which includes a list of old games
(about 1000 games). (For example some names of those games are: LadyBug,
Packman, 1941, Moon Patrol, Asteroids, Frog etc.)
When you run the program, appear the list of those games and then you choose
a particular game using the arrow keys from keyboard.
These games had played before about 15-20 years so they played under DOS. So
the problem now is if the new USB joysticks support this game. Maybe someone
had tried that and can tell us something about it.

Yes, and your English is fine if I can understand!

As far as I know Windows98 was the first MS OS that supported USB - I don't
know of any official USB support for DOS, but many people are still running
DOS, and it is not unimaginable that some third-party gadget can supply
support. I have a Game Connector/USB Adaptor for a system that don't support
the Game Port, in the end it didn't work but these things often do exist,
but you have to search for them. I recommend you to search the internet -
possibly Usenet Newsgroups!

Have you tried running these games in a terminal in Windows95? (In
compatibility mode?)
