Whenever I engage the autopilot altitude, I can't steer the plane.
Does anyone know if this is what is supposed to happen ir is there a
"fix" or setting for this that i'm missing.

I'm flying FS2002 professional.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Sal

As far as I am aware, if you engage the autopilot then you are not supposed
to be able to steer the aircraft. The autopilot is doing it. To steer
yourself you need to hit Z to disengage the AP. Have I understood your
question correctly?

I think you need to open the aircraft.cfg file for the aircraft(s)
in question in notepad, find the [autopilot] section and add the lines

use_no_default_pitch=1
use_no_default_bank=1

You have to disengage the LVL but don't ask me how to do that. It has been
discussed several times.
