OK, I've been asleep on FSX Not logged in -   Reply

Managed to purchase a new legal copy today at Wal-Mart....$24.98 for the
basic edition.
Installation took about 44 minutes.
Got validated and took a short spin.
Now my question......

What's the current status of SP for this?
I seem to have seen some horror stories but brushed them off since they
didn't apply to me.
Have mercy but give me some advice.
....should I?
....if so, from where?
(If I'm relegated to a Google search, so be it.)

Thanks!

Greasy

GR, I haven't had the courage (and maybe the computer) to try FSX.

Mike,

I have a three year old EMachine with a 2.41 Pentium and 2Gig of RAM;
Nothing leading edge.
In one flight last evening I could fly around with satisfactory frame rates
but was disappointed in the limited scenery compared to the riches of my
version of FS9. I stared in disbelief as cars and trucks crossed the runway
on a highway at NAS Norfolk (KNGU) at the end of Rwy 10. Never saw that in
FS9!

The jury is still out but not impressed.

Regards,
Greasy

With the scenery up, especially in the Deluxe version, it is awesome but on
your system, it would be a slide show. Need some serious CPU horsepower to
get the real kick out of FSX. Add things like ASX for real weather, UTX for
very realistic scenery, FEX for fantastic clouds and sky and TrackIR for a
realistic experience and it blows FS9 away. BUT you still need some serious
hardware.

Understand completely.

I suppose it just reinforces that the leanness of FS9 still provides me with
the proper digital illusion.
.... and FS9 doesn't have motor vehicle traffic crossing aircraft runways!

Thanks for your input.
