Old Tower Problem Not logged in -   Reply

Hi there!

After month i have installed the bao tower simulation. But there is a problem. I get the "error reading airport information" problem. I delete the two dlls in the tower directory and copied the dll from system to system32.

It is still not running.

Greetings

Are your files compressed (blue writing)? That was the problem for me and uncompressing them fixed it!

the tower folder or files in it will have their names in blue writing. If they are right-click properties, advanced and uncheck the compress files box.

You have to replace MSVCRT20.DLL in the TOWER with the copy from your Windows\System32 folder.

Hello!

Please help me, as I can not get the old tower game to run in Windows XP Home Edition with SP1, Filesystem: NTFS.
I always get the message "error reading airport information" when I start Tower. When I select "New Scenario" or "Practice Scenario" the program terminates without any messages.

I have done all these steps:
* Downloaded from http://www.scenery.org/atc_sims.htm
* installed
* deleted msvcrt10.dll and msvcrt20.dll from the tower directory
* copied wing32.dll to the system32 directory
* copied the windows XP included msvcrt20.dll from system32 to the tower directory

With the above mentioned steps Tower works perfect under Windows 2000 by a friend.
I have found (by my friend) that if you make the subdirectories under Tower "read only" the message "error reading airport information" appears, but I have definitely not done this under Windows XP.
Additionally the directories are not compressed.

Has anyone an idea or can help me, please?

Thank you very much in advance!

Been playing TOWER for years now. From the original CD, first on WIN95, then NT4.0,

and now XP. Until recently that is, because after not playing it for a couple of months

I now discover it doesn't work anymore. Getting "error reading aiport information" .

Strangest thing, because it *did* work on this same XP-machine. I had and still have

the WING32 in the systems-dir, and the MSvcrt20.dll from XP in the TOWER-dir.

What could cause this?

Greetz,

Fritz
