Exactly. The service packs bring a feature under the graphics options called DirectX 10 preview, but enabling it also junks other game features. As you have mentioned; progressive taxi is one thing that gets broken. The progessive taxi line flickers briefly right after you request it, but it is not visible for more than a flash. Also, sometimes the mission waypoint indicators and mission compass will not work with the DirectX 10 preview enabled. So, at best, this is a BETA feature to show off some of the more complex features of DirectX 10 - but its not perfect yet. If I had to guess, Microsoft will duff this off on the driver, and your driver supplier will duff it off on Microsoft. So until the whole WHQL certification - (the anwer-all/solve all problem fixer for VISTA) - finally means what it is supposed to, then we are again left to just sit and wait.
