Great video.

I understand the reasons for Concorde's passing, but can't help mourning
it. Economics are for economists to worry about. As an aviation
enthusiast, there was always something wonderful about that aircraft
despite me knowing I'm never get to fly on it.

I remember being a kid in the '70s and seeing it flying before it went
into service. It filled me full of wonder and drove a small kids
ambition. If ever we needed a justification for the "Great" in Britain
it was Concorde. (I suppose the French had something to do with it too!)

We sorely lack that kid of national drive in the UK these days and I
feel have virtually nothing to really make us proud. Nothing to inspire
the kids who see no future other than hanging around street corners
happy slapping and drinking cheap beer.

But for a couple of decades in the late twentieth century we looked up
and saw a beautiful dart with four huge afterburning engines screaming
across the oceans at Mach 2, proudly carrying our flag around the world.
I miss it.

Si
