There's nothing "arcane" about the "fix," it is really simple and 100%
effective! :)

A bug with FS2002 and some ATI cards is that the visibility setting
has no effect on the game. MS says that the ATI driver does not
support Emulation Effects and ATI says it's the game. Go figure.

I have spent weeks checking NG's and conversing with MS and ATI trying
to get this problem fixed. One person told me to disable Z-buffering.
I guess this works for most of the ATI Rage cards, but not the Rage
128. You see, the Rage 128 _must_ have Z-Buffering or it loses synch.

After considerable time and experimentation, I have found the antidote
for the Rage 128 fog issues.

1) Start -> Run -> Sysedit
In your [386Enh] section of your system.ini file, add the following
line: "EMMExclude=C000-CFFF" without the quotation marks.

2) After, and I mean _after_ the [386Enh] section of you system.ini
file, add the following two lines:

[Display]
devbmp=0

3) Exit sysedit and save your changes - Do NOT restart yet.

4) Right click on an empty part of your desktop and click on
properties. Select the settings tab, and click the advanced button.
Select the Direct 3D tab and set the following:

Wait for vertical sync CHECKED
Compressed Texture Format: CHECKED
All others: UNCHECKED
Z-Buffer depth: 16:24:32

5) Restart your computer. You will not be prompted, but it is needed
to reload the video driver with the new settings.

Hope this helps.
