Thanks for that, if I have to revert to my old machine this should
help.

The good news, however, is that my new machine arrived and it's most
definitely not suffering the same problem. Flying through an overcast
Yellowstone Park resulted in the horizon remaining where it should be,
and just getting hazier, which was a lovely effect.
