I'd like to add two caveats though:
- if other aircraft refer to the panel or sound subfolder of the
aircraft you wan to remove then you need to copy these folders to the
referring aircraft.

A lot of addon aircraft refer back to the original FS2k2 aircraft!!

Usually the referring aircraft has someting like this in the panel or
sound folder:

[fltsim]
alias=b737-400\panel

Now, if you happen to remove the b737-400 aircraft you'd be left
without a panel :-((

- the other issue is that if the acft you want to remove is used as an
AI aircraft. Then the flightplans.txt and aircraft.txt files in
scenedb/atc/scenery need to be adjusted. But if you don't, the only
thing happening is that the aircraft won't fly as AI - no biggie since
you don't want that acft in the first place :-)).
