I would say firstly not to use BMP's for web sites, but convert them to jpeg's. Irfanview is a pretty good all round tool for doing certain things with images, and it is free, available from http://www.irfanview.com/ It will allow you to convert a folder to thumbnails, which you can then select all and copy/paste them to a new location etc. Personally I process each image individually, and make thumbs around 300 by 225 pixels ( Example page http://www.pilotslounge.co.uk/BCA/KSLC_KDEN/Salt_Lake_to_Denver.htm ) but if you have a programme that will do batch processing, that can be a lot faster.
