FSX just as FS9 has some rudimentary set of training missions. I wonder if
anyone had a desire to develop (or may such product already exists) an
actual flight school based on single engine and twin engine Cessnas.

It is probably a doable task, I just wonder why no one made it yet. I want
to apply into real flight school, read ron maldonado`s pdf but it would be
great to have something in FSX to try it on.

An alternative would be to go to a bookstore or library and pick up some
actual flight training manuals. I found that real life flight school
translates very well to FS (it should.......Smile. My FBO also had many videos
that you could watch any time that you wanted to drop in for coffee and chat
with the old guys. Of course, the older guys would tell me to turn off that
crap and get into the real plane.......Smile. I am not sure if any of the
virtual airlines still have extensive training like they used to. I was
involved with one several years ago that had a really tough training program
that you had to complete before you could start routine flights. It doesn't
exist anymore, but there may be others that have similiar programs. If you
really want to go to real flight school, do it as soon as you can. You won't
regret it. I waited too long and my health started going south on me..... I
am scheduled for triple bypass surgery next Friday and the Doc says that
since my heart is still in very good shape otherwise that there is no reason
that I can't get through a flight physical and get back to the real thing in
time.

Hi Ed,

Hey, best of luck, mate - triple bypass is no laughing matter, whoever
the Surgeon may be!!!!

I've been SERIOUSLY considering real-life flight training, for quite a
while now: I've been greatly inspired by Crash Lander's training, and
Varmit's, and Don Parker's previous experiences, and Quilly's, and various
others' here, and also Troy's, and Cameron's, exploits, out at Flying
Fighters, at Archerfield, as Flying Fighters then was.

I also have the opportunity, after the appropriate Certifications, if I
can possibly pass them all, to progress to T6-Texans (Harvards), Mustang
P-51s, and even Spitfires (I THINK, from what I've been told, by various
people who I trust implicitly, but I'm not sure I have that sort of
ability), if I can clock up those appropriate sorts of Hours, AND,
Qualifications......

I've got those comments from various blokes in at the MacArthur Museum,
as well, and they don't ever bullshit, about anything, unless they're
telling "tall stories", which has well and truly taught me to never shoot
for less than the very best you are possibly capable of - I hope you feel
the same way, in recovering from your heart stuff, mate!!! Smile)))

Regards,
John Ward

Sounds like you are in the San Antonio area......Smile. There is no reason
that you can't get up and fly those birds, it will just take a bit of time.
You can figure on $500-$800 a month for your PPL/SEL depending on how fast
you want to get it. Find a CFI that you like, you will be spending a lot of
time with him/her. I always related better to the older, grizzled
guys........Smile. I guess it was because I am older and I also liked to hear
their "air tales" that could get me laughing so hard I would lose 100ft of
alt....then get hollered at.........Smile. There are few things in life that I
enjoy more than flying. If you have that itch, by all means scratch
it.........Smile.

Ed
