'Keyboard', is the default input for FS. The standard procedure to activate a 'stick' is via the Menus [Options | Controls] - what follows could depend on many things, usually if you can see the Joystick in Control Panel and calibrate it there before starting FS, then it should be visible in FS too. Sometimes the stick doesn't activate when you restart Windows and it will not be visible in FS - this requires turning off FS and activate it in Control Panel before restarting FS. It may also require a reboot. If FS isn't seing the stick it will be represented by grey text in the menu for items [ Enable | Disable]. If this happens, make sure that Windows is seeing the device first. Once the stick has been activated, restart FS before flying (not required, but smart if the sim crashes and you will have to do it all once more). After a restart, the stick is automtically set as the new default, but it still will not activate if the OS isn't finding it when starting.
