landing lights not working

Hi,
I have the following questions on FS2002Pro.
The landing lights are not effective while in cockpit view during night flights for some aircrafts, Mooney and Learjet for example.
What do you say about "recognition lights" and "boot" buttons in Mooney and Baron 58? Are these useless?
