This really depends on just what you want to do with FS. I flew for some
time on my own and with others on Multiplayer. But others wandered away and
I continued to be interested in flying FS. Then I found Livewire and have
been flying there ever since. I recommend you try it. If you don't like it
or if it is not for you then dump it.

Before you do anything, you have to sit down and figure out what you want
out of Virtual Flying.

Virtual Airlines or VA...
Each VA will try to do there own thing. Some like to copy a Real World
Airline and try to offer the same things that the RW Airline will.
Others will try to be Original and Offer whatever they seem to feel is
popular at the moment. Sometimes trying to keep as in Real Life or anything
goes. Depending on the VA of course.

How much time can you spare to fly for an airline?
Do you fulfill the hourly requirement per month of what the VA your looking
at does require?
Does the VA offer routes that make you interested?
Does the VA offer equipment that you are interested in flying?
Can you fly IFR or do you like to stay VFR?
Do you like to fly short routes or can you or are you willing to fly the
Longer Routes?
Are you interested in flying the heavies?
Smaller jets, Props both large and small?
Are you interested in flying Choppers?
Are you interested in flying Bush routes and equipment?
Are you interested in flying Online with others or Offline?

To answer your question, I fly for two separate VA's.
I like to fly the mid size jets to the heavies, from short to medium length
routes and on occasions I will go for the longer routes as well. I always
fly IFR, but at this point in time I don't have the time nor patience to sit
and fly Online.
One VA tries to copy there Real World counterpart and offers routes and
equipment exactly like the RW version does.
The other is a strictly an Original VA that makes its own rules, is
relatively laid back as long as you fulfill your monthly hours, or pretty
close to it LOL.
They offer routes covering the world as well as equipment that spans your
imagination from Cargo Heavies down to the smallest prop and chopper. The
choice is yours.
You can go over to FSHost and download a very small file called FSHostSpy
and this will allow you to look at a lot of the arena's that people are
flying in. Some VA's will fly here and you can go in and ask your
questions. Link here: http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshostspy/

For a very Serious place to fly Online you can go over to VATSIM link here:
http://www.Vatsim.net/

Vatsim has people that will act as ATC talking to you over the Net and you
will answer them thru your Mic. You will file flightplans and come and go
where ever your Heart will allow and the Vatsim Servers cover the entire
world in any country you desire. This is the most serious of places and
tries to be the most realistic of all the Online Flying areas. No clowning
around, you have to do research and fly by the Charts and understand a lot
of the real world aviation rules. Truthfully, its the greatest thing that
has ever happened to the Virtual Skies. Do I sound biased, yeah probably
and thats not a bad thing either.

Over at Vatsim, you can also find VA's that will help you in any manner that
you want help in. Helping to fly, helping to find a chart, or even help to
flying by the numbers on that chart. You can get out of the Virtual Skies
whatever you want, as long as you try and take it seriously to understand
what they will expect out of you. You can get out of flying whatever you
want as long as you devote your time in learning what its all about.

Good luck and happy flying.

Take out the obvious NO SPAM out of my email addy and you can contact me for
more information. Just put in the subject line "Virtual Airlines" or I
might delete it as Spam. Also, Notice I didn't mention any Virtual Airlines
by name in this post. This newsgroup is really unbiased, and is neutral as
far as VA's goes. I have in the past but I felt that in this discussion it
was best kept offline. If you want, I will be watching this thread for your
answer if you want me to contact you.
