Hi, how do we know which course (radial) to fly when flying vor to vor. The
maps don't show any compass rose next to the VOR stations. Do we need to
purchase real charts? Thanx

There are a couple of ways to go VOR to VOR:

1) You can use your GPS and set it to tell you what bearing a particular
VOR is from your current position.

2) You could tune in a VOR and use the ADI knob to center the indicator
on the VOR. This will tell you what bearing to fly to get to the VOR.

3) Charts would help. Sporty's Pilot Shop
(http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/charts/seccharts.cfm) is one place to
get them. Look for 'Sectional Charts'. Note: these are only for the US
and possessions but other charts are available for most of the world.

Features might be different IF you are using FS X, but for several prior
versions the same method is available.

Select your departure and destination airfields in the flight planner.
In the flight planner's map drag the red flight path to any VORs you
want to overfly. You can also drag the path to any of the intersections
(triangle emblems) along the victor airways or jet airways connecting
the VORs. In many locations hovering the mouse pointer over an airway
will show the minimum altitude necessary to clear terrain and other
obstructions along that route. Once you have dragged the flight path to
make it include these way points you can read the courses/radials on the
NavLog.

As an added convenience the NavLog will be available on your knee board.
You can also make a hard copy of the NavLog from the flight planner (MAY
require setting IE as your default web browser if you have been using an
alternative browser)
